British summer is known for its lack of sun, but now that the temperatures are finally rising to a decent number, we can get our sunnies out and enjoy the heat – for as far as it goes at least. For those who haven’t found that perfect pair yet, or who just can’t get enough, a through back to the ss17 trends. Just so you know, oversized is still a thing and we are very happy with that!
Statement sunglasses took over the runways for spring/summer and they include everything from bright colours to funky shapes, thick rims and see-through designs. Oversized yellow specs are hot, while cat eyes and clear rims are fighting for their place in the spotlight.
Coloured glasses are by far the biggest trend of the season. Aviators have been a statement on the runways for quite some time now and show no signs of disappearing from our closets anytime in the near future. Versace combined the two amazingly well with the purple lensed aviator look. As did Phillip Lim with a range of aviator style glasses with a flat top in various colours.
The perfect statement
Pineapples may not always go with your everyday work outfit, but you can definitely leave it to designers such as Thom Browne and Dolce&Gabanna if you want to make a statement with your glasses.
These oversized pieces from Marco de Vincenzo and Roberto Cavalli can make the most boring outfit look stylish.
Subtle details as seen on the designs at Ellie Saab really finishes off these outstanding square frames. The embellishments and colored glasses at Fendi truly make a bold statement.
Back to the sixties
The big plastic frames are a throwback to the 1960s, as seen on various runways for spring/summer 2017. The fact that the color of the rims and lenses are flowing together, like these two styles from DKNY and Roksanda, is what makes them 2017 approved.
Round it up
We might have got a bit overwhelmed by the various outrages styles this season, nevertheless, the round glasses are still rocking the runway. In smaller sizes as seen at Salvatore Ferragamo, as well as with Anya Hindmarch and Alice + Olivia bringing in some oversized looks. Nothing beats a pair of round glasses when it comes to vintage elegance.
