The announced collaboration between the high-street brand JW Anderson and the giant retailer Uniqlo is definitely one to look forward this upcoming fall. As a matter of fact, the collection conceived will be released in the UK stores on September 19 but, since its announcement earlier this Spring, several details have been disclosed and the initial surprise is now turning into impatience.
This is a collection where British heritage meets Japanese love for high-tech. A collaboration between West and East. A chance for both brands to reach new and different customers and for these to explore new dimensions of their own styles.
The 33 pieces, crafted from JW Anderson’s accurate tailoring and Uniqlo’s innovative fabrics, cover both womenswear and menswear and, with a price range between £15 to £140, they will also suit most wallets.
The initial aim of the collection was to “offer the best of British styling that is at once traditional and modern while providing daily lifestyle options for men and women of all ages”, as stated by the British label. “We have combined the energy, creativity, and traditional touches of JW Anderson with our fit, fabrics, and functionality, as part of our quest to craft wardrobe essentials that are enduringly appealing” added Yuki Katsuta, senior VP of Uniqlo.
Truthfully the Japanese retail chain is not new to intriguing collaborations with designers and artists from other market’ segments. With their distinctive styles, at times even contrasting to the giant’s ordinary casual wear lookbook, some of the highlighted names include Jil Sander, Carine Roitfeld, and Kaws.
Each collaboration proved to be an overall success and customers have always shown appreciation for Uniqlo’s ventures, so expectations are understandably already high. After all, such premises do lead to believe this collection will be both stylish and practical, as the current trend flow of wearable fashion advocates, so why shouldn’t we all be excited?
Keep an eye on the official website for the release.
