Clio Peppiatt launched her eponymous womenswear label in 2015 through accumulating experience from the likes of Alexander Mcqueen and Matthew Williamson. Peppiatt showcased her ‘Love Rat’ Autumn/Winter 17 collection, during London Fashion Week at the Royal Society of Arts. Clio Peppiatt’s creations have been previously worn by Lady Gaga, Lena Dunham and Adwoa Aboah amongst many others.
Love Rat explores the relevance of the timeless love story of Romeo and Juliet. In this digital era we live in, dating apps and new technologies determine our search for true love and the range plays on how these platforms create scepticism and anticipation, analysing the difference between fleeting desire and true love.
Peppiatt’s immersive world is brought to life in silks, furs, and heavy denim. Femininity is explored in a modern context and brought in through a popping colour palette and varying shapes and textures. Merging together masculine and feminine elements to create striking pinstripe pieces. Intricate embroidery, embellishments, and hand illustrated prints were featured across the garments unifying the underlying playful theme.
Hopefully, we can all find our Romeo at the Clio Peppiatt club.
