Handbags are created to make a statement, and this brand definitely knows how to translate that into a collection. With a stylist’s eye and her excessively creative vision as a designer, Denise Ruigrok van der Werven, founder of the self-titled label, has very well combined fashion trends with ethical expectations.
Born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, in 1989, Denise Ruigrok van der Werven launched her first collection of luxury handbags in 2016. After a successful start in the Netherlands, she opened a temporary showroom during 2017 couture week, at the fabulous show space in the heart of Paris, Atelier Néerlandais.
Trends in accessories and handbags varied every season. From small handbags to huge shoppers. We have seen all kinds of crazy shapes and forms on many catwalks over the past few seasons. But all jokes aside, although a lipstick-shaped handbag can be lots of fun, at the end of the day we all crave that one perfect piece that goes with every outfit.
Minimalistic designs, luxurious Italian leather, perfectly stitched and internationally embraced. A must-have item in every woman’s walk-in-closet. There’s a bucket bag, a backpack, a satchel and smaller totes with a knotted top handle. But it’s not just the unique designs that make this collection so desirable. What is most special about the brand, is that the bags are handmade in Italy and all leather is vegetable tanned.
With a high-fashion allure, this collection could have easily been shown on international runways. The color palette full of muted pastels perfectly fits every spring/summer trend we have seen this season. The elegant designs, with the playful knotted top handle, make this collection timeless, and there for also, a very ethical purchase.
